Renewing Your Certificate or License...   Know Your EXPIRATION Date!

  • Holders of a four-year Provisional Certificate must complete six semester hours of coursework or the equivalent to transition to licensure.

  • Holders of an eight-year Provisional Certificate issued before September 1, 1998, who wish to exercise their right to one final renewal, must complete 12 semester hours of coursework or the equivalent. For each year of teaching under the current certificate, one hour of coursework can be waived.

  • Holders of an eight-year certificate issued before Sept. 1, 1998, who wish to transition to a five-year license, must complete six semester hours of coursework or the equivalent.

  • Holders of a two-year provisional license who have not previously taught under the license must complete three semester hours of coursework to renew.

  • Holders of lapsed certificates must complete nine semester hours of coursework if the certificate is lapsed for fewer than five years.  Holders of certificates that have lapsed for five years or more must complete 12 semester hours of coursework.
